Investigator Amy Taylor-Virginia Attorney General’s Office Animal Law Unit

Investigator Taylor has been a respected Investigator in Virginia for over 15 years including assisting law enforcement for the Virginia Animal Fighting Taskforce. Because of her experience, she was hired as the first Animal Crimes Investigator in the Virginia Attorney General’s Office. She is the first of this type of Investigator housed in an Attorney General’s office in the nation, setting the standard for animal crimes. She has served with distinction, literally saving over a thousand animals in her 3 ½ years with the AG’s Office. She has trained 100s of animal control officers and law enforcement officers on securing animal cruelty and animal fighting warrants and how to effectively process an animal crime scene. She has been declared an expert in animal fighting, especially dog fighting in Virginia, and Federal Courts. She is considered a national expert on animal fighting and has aided states throughout the nation on animal fighting cases.


Sgt. Erin Brogan-Shenandoah Sheriff’s Office

Sgt. Brogan has distinguished herself as a respected law enforcement officer in her County and has aided 1000s of animals in her county but her work for other localities and the Virginia Animal Fighting Taskforce speaks volumes about her experience and work ethic. No one is better at investigating large-scale cruelty to horses. She is called upon by other localities to assist them in investigating horse abuse cases frequently. She has become the go to Investigator on horse abuse and agricultural animal cases. Sgt. Brogan is relentless and thorough when she investigates a case and has brought numerous animal abusers to justice.
