Virginia's Attorney General Jason Miyares

AG Miyares is being honored for his leadership in Virginia because of his Animal Law Unit. Miyares has expanded the Unit with a full-time position of Animal Abuse Investigator and another prosecutor position and provided additional resources and support for the work of the Unit.  During his administration, the Unit continues its prosecutions of animal fighters and animal abusers, including a neglectful pet store owner and abusive dog trainer.  His unit is called on every day to advise prosecutors and law enforcement on effective ways to bring animal abusers to justice.  His Unit has prosecuted some of the most complex and challenging animal crime cases in Virginia and in the nation.
